Urban development
Vision | The VoltaCenter project presented here should be viewed in connection with the comprehensive «Re-use of St. Johann Harbour – Campus Plus» urban planning project. The latter envisages that the one-time industrial production site in St. Johann is being transformed into a Campus of Knowledge. In the course of the coming years, up to 10,000 research and management personnel are expected to be employed in the modern buildings that are being newly built.District quality | The St. Johann district is being significantly enhanced through the largely underground construction of the north bypass road. The redesign of the district streets, the Voltastrasse boulevard and the Voltaplatz and Lothringerplatz squares will bring high quality to the area. At the same time, new pedestrian and cycle routes to the Rhine and along the river to the national border are being created.
S-Bahn railway station outside the door | The new S-Bahn railway stop «St. Johann Station» is adjacent to the VoltaCenter, conveniently located for the apartments and shops in the Center. It provides fast connections to the city and the Basel region for both tenants and employees in the shops in and around the Center.
VoltaCenter as a focal point | In future, the striking VoltaCenter building will mark the location of the new St. Johann Station.
